Plant Hire Meets Pony Power: Supporting Therapeutic Work in North Lanarkshire

Last week, our Operations Director Mick Naylor and our Bathgate Depot Manager Graham Rowan were invited to the Ponies Help Children charity at Blairmains Farm in Harthill, North Lanarkshire.

Buckhurst Plant Hire is supporting the work Balfour Beatty are doing with the charity by donating a 3tonne tracked dumper.

It was a pleasure to meet the charity's CEO Heather Stephens to find out more about this fantastic charity and the work they do to provide therapeutic sessions to children of all ages using their rescue ponies.

Ponies Help Children (PHC) is a family-run charity based at Blairmains Farm in Harthill, North Lanarkshire. Founded by Heather Stephens and her mother Moira Ireland, PHC rescues ponies that have experienced neglect or abuse and pairs them with children and young people facing emotional distress, disability, or disadvantage. Rather than riding, the sessions focus on bond-building through grooming and lead work, helping children develop trust, resilience, and emotional regulation in a safe, nurturing environment.
